SKYWARN Advanced Spotter Training

The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Wakefield is offering an Advanced SKYWARN Spotter Training session on Thursday, November 21 at the Chesterfield County Central Library, 7051 Lucy Corr Blvd.  This class starts at 5:30 PM.  Space is limited and registration is required.

SKYWARN Spotter training is offered as two elements:  Basic and Advanced.  Basic training covers the identification of common severe weather events and reporting procedures.  Basic certification is a prerequisite for the Advanced training, which goes into more detail on severe weather development and basic radar interpretation.  Certification is good for three years and may be renewed by taking either the Basic or Advanced class.
