The Virginia QSO party is held annually in the spring and is sponsored by the Sterling Park Amateur Radio Club (SPARC).  The event offers a number of certificates and plaques for top performing stations in a wide array of categories [2022 plaque list, certificate sample].  Amateurs of all license classes and skill levels can participate, from home or in the field.

In 2022 and 2023, RATS sponsored the VAQP's "Single Operator VHF Only" plaque.  The RATS membership has voted to sponsor this plaque again for 2024.

RATS members interested in making this a club affair (setting up a club station under the W4RAT call sign to operate from a park, other public venue, or private residence -- either as an organizer or participant) are encouraged to make their interest known at a Membership Meeting or by e-mailing the RATS Board.

For more information, see the official 2024 Virginia QSO Party web site.
